Beyond Expectations March 3, 2010 R. Taloma I have had other protein bars and most suck in taste. This bar is taste so good its amazing that it also good for you. I'm doing P90X and this definitely helps me out with maintaining a good diet.
I love these (mostly vegan) bars, but... February 27, 2010 Karen Wilson (Orange County, CA United States) These bars are great! I love how they taste - especially the chocolate mint flavor! They are easy as pie to eat and contain a whopping 20 grams of protein!
Plus, they are mostly vegan - that is there are no animal products in them except accidental contamination due to their manufacture in a factory that also makes stuff with animal products. This is fine for me; I'm not micro-vegan.
However, these bars make me fart! Not only fart, but the farts are like dog farts! Not only are they like dog farts, they are like English pointer farts that kill off a room. And the dutch ovens they inspire - wowsers!
So I'm giving them another go by buying at eating some "Bean-zyme" products (available at Amazon) with these bars.
Otherwise, I have to time the consumption of these bars with period of times when I'm not in a group setting.
Strange but true; I wish Clif bar would add Bean-zyme stuff into the bar.
Good...not great February 25, 2010 Suong Nguyen (San Jose, CA) Pros
- 20g of protein!
- tasty and not too sweet
- chewy but not too chewy
- can be used as a meal replacement
Cons
- 8g of fat per serving
- protein ingredient used is soy protein not whey protein
- soy products has phyto-estrogens in it...
- whooping 20g of sugar per serving
I didn't know which flavor to buy at first so I bought the Chocolate and the Peanut Butter and I were to buy again, I would stick with the Chocolate version. The Peanut Butter is slightly more sweet in comparison which does not suit me. These bars can be somewhat addicting so do control yourself.
Great. Tried all but Lemon February 21, 2010 Lance Schupbach (Lincoln, NE, USA) Peanut Butter ... 5 stars. Others (didn't try lemon) 4.5 stars. More fiber than PowerBar Protein Plus but more fat & sugar and less protein, though the price for a 12 bar box from the bulk retailers is proportionate to the protein content. I'll update this after I've tried the PowerBars. Solid products.
Good but... February 12, 2010 H. Winters (Grand Rapids, MI) The first several bites of the Lemon Builder bar are good, but then it gets "old." So, I only eat half a bar at a time which is actually probably good since there are 270 calories in a whole bar. I keep one in my purse in case I'm in a pinch and need to nibble on something.
